My goal is to use every item in the photo below.
We are heading out in Roosevelt for the weekend. Somewhere in southern Oregon along a river with bike trails. We have minimal plans but maximum gear, and when the plans are vague you might as well bring it all (unless you are backpacking. Then “bring it all” is a terrible strategy.) Over the years JJ has taught me to keep my bike and fishing bags packed and ready to go, and this is why–to jump on the chance to get out of town on a whim and be ready for anything.
Essentials include…
Flyfishing: waders, boots, flyrod, sling pack.
Biking: shoes, gloves, hydropack, pump, helmet
Hiking shoes and hammock for afterwards (forgot to include a paperback for hammock time.
And yes, that is our sorry-looking yard of mostly dandelions, clover and dead spots. Maybe if we stayed home more we’d have a better looking lawn, but I hope that never happens 🙂
